Community run,
for the community.

Woolgoolga and District Retirement Village is more than a place to live – it is a vital part of the local community, built on decades of care, connection and a shared commitment to supporting older people to live with dignity and purpose.

Our story began in the 1970’s, when a small group of passionate local residents recognised the need for aged care services in Woolgoolga. What followed was years of tireless fundraising, advocacy and community effort, with volunteers giving their time and energy to turn a vision into reality. From street stalls and local events to the support of service clubs and community groups, the Village was created through genuine grassroots

determination. When the facility officially opened, it stood as a powerful reflection of what a community can achieve when it comes together.

That same spirit continues to shape who we are today. We remain proudly not-for-profit and community-owned, guided by a voluntary Board and supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who care deeply about the people they support. Every resident, family member and visitor is part of a community where people are known, respected and genuinely cared for.

We understand that moving into retirement living or aged care is a significant life step, and we are committed to making that transition as comfortable and positive as possible. Whether someone is living independently, receiving residential care or staying with us for respite, our focus is always on the individual, their story, their preferences and their wellbeing.

Located in the heart of Woolgoolga, our Village remains closely connected to the community that built it. Families are always welcome, volunteers continue to play an important role, and local support ensures we can

keep improving and growing. These connections are not just part of our history, they are part of our everyday life.

We are proud of where we started, proud of what we have become, and proud to continue serving our community. At Woolgoolga and District Retirement Village, we are not just providing care – we are honouring a legacy of community spirit while creating a place where people truly belong.
